Let me first welcome you to my world. We will now embark on a journey into my mind and hopefully understand pieces of the many stories it tells me. What better way to do this than to ask a question? What if you woke up tomorrow and your world was turned into a burning mass? Flames that lick every substance as if gasoline were coating every surface surround you and your neighborhood. One touch, and you can light up like a candle. Your family is gone, your house is burning, and you don’t have anywhere to go. All you know is what caused this sudden spread. All you know is that a gas that had taken over one side of the world was now taking over your part of the world.
“Life was enjoyable for us all and we didn’t even know it. We never knew what we had would be taken away as if it wasn’t ours in the first place- as if it wasn’t ever meant to be. As quickly as the days went by, one seemingly simple day turned out to be the day that changed the lives of everyone on the large sphere we call home. We received news that a wave of some type of gas came out of the sky and slowly began to cover one entire hemisphere of Earth. No one knew where its source was or what it could be. It was strange and foreign to our world, but it spread like a wildfire across the plains in a drought. Almost everyone had died and those that didn’t had changed. The very second the gas touched their skin, they were different; they couldn’t talk and they were all mindless and deadly. We were told that most animals had somehow survived, but they had changed as well. Creatures, even as simple as a butterfly, could now kill you. Poisonous fumes spewed out of pores that were hidden in their wings. Birds grouped together to form one large black falcon of death that soared across the skies crying out a battle cry that was heard before lives were snatched into its talons. Nothing was untouched by the strange gas that formed a wave- a Quietus over the land. Fires started in random locations, buildings burned, and people would burn alive in their homes or a couple of days after the gas had set in. After a while, the ground had absorbed whatever gas lingered in the air, and the Quietus was thought to have started moving west.”
This is the beginning of the story, I should say… well, it’s the back-story. Your world is slowly falling into the grasp of a gas- a Quietus. Cara, who you will meet tomorrow, will be the main element of our journey. Through her, we will learn the power of a substance that seems to have an objective of its own.
For anyone reading, thanks and let me know your thoughts, questions, or issues. Good-bye and soon… eventually…
I’ll see ya.
