When you consider why you’re interested in a product or service, you can almost always root it to a person. How likely are you to buy a car from a website as opposed to the salesman in the car lot? Which situation is easier to say ‘no’ to? What’s the difference? Trust… Closure… You have the chance to see, feel, listen, and ask. You can test it for yourself. If you have a good salesman, you’ll feel comfortable. He’ll make an acquaintance of you and when you buy the car, it will be because he bargained and made you comfortable with your decision, which isn’t a bad thing. You went to the lot to look at cars, did you not? It’s easier to say “no” when you’re only “window shopping.”
On a website, this is difficult. To add personality means to have credibility, realism, and character. It will help you connect with a client, not to cheat or hurt them, but to let them know you know what they need, and you can provide the best of your product or service to them. This takes delving into yourself, but that presents another issue; what do you need to share? What does anyone want to know? What’s important?
